This Story started with a client who needed her space to work harder and smarter for her lifestyle. She reached out to Lakeside with a vision: an office that could also function as her reading nook, craft/sewing room, and office space. With limited square footage, she needed a solution that would allow her to comfortably sew when inspired yet easily transform back into a clean and organized office when not in use. Functionality, beauty, and thoughtful design were all equally important.
During our design consultation, she shared an image she had found online that captured the style she loved. While the original piece was not a fold-down desk, it sparked an idea. We took that inspiration and reimagined it, transforming it into a custom fold-down sewing desk that fit her exact needs and the dimensions of her space.
At Lakeside Cabinets, we believe inspiration is only the beginning. True craftsmanship happens when design meets purpose. Our team carefully studied the quantities required of hinges, brackets, bullet catches, and latches to use and from there, we designed a piece that could seamlessly transition the desk vertically and horizontally while still considering the beauty of the wood species and composition.
Every detail was intentional, from the proportions of the cabinet to the smooth motion of the fold-down desk, to the way the piece integrates beautifully into the room when closed. What began as a single image evolved into a fully customized solution, built specifically for her lifestyle.
